Knowing Yourself

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Think of all the experiences you have been exposed to during your life. When you start thinking about these experiences, you begin to realize that you have been exposed to a great wealth of information and knowledge, knowledge you can apply to your individual and community goals and dreams.

*

People who have a willingness to tap into their personal wealth of knowledge stretch themselves and step off into the unknown as a way to increase their learning experiences and base of knowledge.

*

The brain files away everything we experience or that we are exposed to, yet we only use about 10% of our brain’s potential. Your lifetime collection of knowledge has tremendous potential to support you in achieving your inner most desires.

*

We all have a Shadow. Our Shadow is everything that is deep inside of us that is unconscious, repressed, underdeveloped, and denied. This is the dark side of ourselves, and like all things in life it also has the potential to become the light inside of us.

*

If I am going to stop repeating the negative patterns in my life I am going to have to take a hard look at my Shadow so that I can learn more about myself.

*

Life will always present you with opportunities for growth and learning to occur whether I ask for it or not. We all have the choice to learn from these opportunities or to ignore them. In any case, they will not go away until they are dealt with.

*

When we pay attention to the Shadow side of ourselves we have an opportunity to see and accept who we really are, enabling us to positively develop the person that we were meant to be. To “know thy self” is one of the most important things we can do. It is impossible to become a balanced person and reach our full potential without understanding and embracing our Shadow side.

*

The goal for all of us, the goal for you, is to become all that you can be, to reach your full potential, and to make a difference in this world.

Let me know what you think.

Until next week, remember the only boxes that exist are the ones you create yourself.

Focusing on Possiblity

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Now is the time to shift our thinking from “I can’t possibly make a difference,” to “I will be one of the people who will focus my energies on working purely and simply for the benefit of humankind so that we can change the course of history and move to a place of love and compassion for our community, city, state, nation, and the world.”

“The purpose of life is not to be happy – but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all.” Leo Rosten

Keeping the mind and heart focused on the possibility of what “can be” while remaining positive today can be a major uphill battle.

When the world gets me down, when the words of wise men and women drive a dagger in my heart, and when the actions of our leaders work for the few and not the whole, I do my best to look for the possibility of what “can be” and focus on the positive.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Anne Frank

What you think about and imagine the most will be what you create in your life. When you think about and imagine what seems to be an impossible idea on a regular basis, you will have embarked on “the impossible dreaming journey,” and you will be one step closer to making the impossible, possible.

Dreaming what you perceive as impossible thoughts or dreams can lead you through new doors of perception and opportunity. It is important to remain open to different and unexpected thinking when embarking on the “impossible dreaming journey.”

It is only when we start to think and believe that our thoughts and dreams are not impossible, that they can become real, that they can become possible.

We are the only ones that can influence the changes necessary to turn the tide and redirect the flow of hope and compassion back into our reservoir, and to fill our hearts and those of the citizens of the world with the possibility of changing the course of history for the betterment of all.

“Act as if what you do makes a difference.  It does.” William James

Our challenge is to focus on the possibility of what “can be” while remaining positive through the challenges of change.

Let me know what you think.

Until next week, remember the only boxes that exist are the ones you create yourself.

Believing in Possibility

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

It is only when we start to think and believe that our thoughts and dreams are not impossible, that they can become real.

Few really believe.  The most only believe that they believe or even make believe.”  John Lancaster Spalding

What you think about and imagine the most will be what you create in your life. When you think about and imagine what seems to be and impossible idea on a regular basis, you will have embarked on “the impossible dreaming journey,” and you will be one step closer to making the impossible, possible.

“Some things have to be believed to be seen.” Ralph Hodgson

Thomas A. Edison, Michelangelo, and Abraham Lincoln marched to their own beat and believing in the possibility of the impossible. They showcased for us the power of change we have hidden deep inside ourselves. They demonstrated what is possible.

Confidence is a very key part in developing your creativity. If you have confidence in your creativity you will indeed become more creative.

Having confidence in yourself is being open and willing to go further in exploring other possibilities. Arrogance is being closed and defensiveness when other ideas are presented. Very creative people are rarely arrogant.

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right.” Henry Ford

The process of exploring the impossible as possible allows new What Box? ideas to rise to the surface. The challenge is to let the ideas flow and not block them with limited boxed thinking. Focus on making it possible and see what happens in your life.

Let me know what you think.
